About Me

Hey, I’m Sky; the femboy behind this world and website.

I hold an (MBO) degree in Software Development and I’m from the Netherlands. While Dutch is my native language, I often find English easier to use, even if it is insanely confusing at times. (I occasionally use GPT for assistance, since translate sucks lol).

I love creating creatures from the simplest inspirations. For example, the very first design of Eyrball was inspired by an indentation in our living room table. In the past, I used to create creatures on a whim, without thinking too deeply about their lore. But with Astracel, I wanted to approach things differently. I now research the concepts behind my creations so they feel like they could genuinely exist within a believable world. (With minor exceptions now and then, it is still fantasy after all).

Outside of Astracel, I occasionally stream on Twitch and enjoy gaming in general. My favorite games include the Horizon series by Guerrilla and Genshin Impact. While Astracel itself doesn’t have a huge story, I’ve always loved story-driven games.

I also enjoy sleeping, coding, and honestly just random things.

Aesthetic-wise, I really like kawaii and lolita/similar clothing styles. My favorite colors are black, pink, purple, and red-pink. I watch a lot of anime and other series, and when working on Astracel, I often have nature documentaries playing in the background, like the many "Our ..." series. (Such as Our Planet, Our Universe, Our Living World, Our Oceans, and the others).

I’m currently 20 years old (05/09/18).

About Astracel

I’ve been creating creatures since around 2017/18, though I’m not entirely sure of the exact year. The official world of Astracel, however, began in August 2023, which is already almost three years ago.

Before Astracel, I had a smaller world-like project for which I created two short books called Kasura and Aerforsa. These books mostly contained monsters and fantasy plants with very little detail; usually just a drawing accompanied by a small piece of text. Some of the old numbering from those books still exists today. In certain SkyNote buttons within some codex entries, you can still find the original monster numbers they were listed under, along with the text that was originally written for them.

With Astracel, I wanted the world to feel more realistic (with a few magical elements here and there, since it is still fantasy after all). I began adding far more detail, both in the designs and in the written descriptions of their entries. I also created a full codex marking system, where different letters are used to categorize different types of entries. Over time, Astracel has grown into more than just creatures. There are now ecosystems, landmarks, regions, artifacts, and many other concepts forming the world.

There are still two areas I haven’t fully explored yet: map-making and character design. The map is slowly being developed, but it may take some time before new files are added. As for characters, I’ve already created some such as Saya, Nerezza, Zoriana, Zephyra, and Dexter, who belong to established species within the world. However, I want every character to matter, not just the main ones. Every background figure and every nameless face should have a story, just like people do in our own world. Take myself as an example: I come from two parents and have a brother and a half-sister. That’s already five people connected to just one life.

I’m still not entirely sure what Astracel is meant to become. Sometimes I imagine it as a comic or manga, and a year ago I even considered turning it into a game. In the end, what I want most is a world that can be explored by anyone; not just the landscapes, but the people and lives within it.

That’s the heart of Astracel: not creating a world for others, but building one for myself; one so full of life and detail that others can step inside and glimpse the possibilities it holds.
